Deopham History

Rev. Millard

There are two burials in 1867 recorded in the Burials Register at which the officiating minister is:-

Whilst this looks like F.M. Millard, it is likely that it refers to the Rev. Jeffery Watson Millard, vicar of Shimpling at this time. The register entries were not always completed by the priest himself so it is possible that there could be some confusion over the initials. The Rev. Jeffery Millard was the son of William Salter Millard, lessee of Deopham Manor. He is referred to in a letter written by his brother in 1863 Charles William Millard indicating that the two brothers would be taking over their father’s lease on Deopham Manor.
