DEOPHAM, or DEEPHAM, is a village and parish, including Deopham Green, in the hundred of Forehoe, 2½ miles south-east of Hingham, containing 494 inhabitants in 1851.
The church, dedicated to St. Andrew, is a fine building, with square tower. Lord Wodehouse and the Dean and Chapter of Canterbury are the lords of the manor, and the latter are appropriators of the rectory and patrons of the vicarage, valued in 1831 at £204, augmented with £200 Queen Anne’s Bounty, and £200 private benefactions.
The Fuel Allotment, 14a. 2r., produces about £23 a year, and is distributed in coals and bread to the poor with a few other small charities.
Here are a National School and Primitive Methodist Chapel.
