The Agreement
By an Agreement made on May 18th 1931 between:
1) John George Peele of Morley Manor, Morley in the County of Norfolk, Gentleman hereinafter called “the Lord”), of the one part;
2) Robert Rushbrooke Mason of 29, Quebec Road East Dereham in the said County of Norfolk, Gentleman (the Owner of the land described in the First Schedule hereto formerly Copyhold of the said Manor, but now enfranchised by virtue of the Law of Property Act 1922) of the other part;
Witnesseth as follows:
1. Pursuant to the Law of Property Act 1922 it is agreed that the compensation for the extinguishment of the Manorial incidents saved by Part 5 of that Act affecting the said land and of the rights of the Lord in or to any mines and minerals in or under the said land and the sporting and other rights affecting the same preserved by the Twelfth Schedule to that Act shall be the sum of Fifty pounds with interest thereon payable half yearly at the rate of 5½ % p.a. from the date hereof until paid.
2. The said John George Peele hereby acknowledges the right of the said Robert Rushbrooke Mason to production of the documents mentioned in the Second Schedule hereto and to delivery of copies thereof and hereby undertakes for the safe custody thereof.
3. The Steward’s compensation and all costs and expenses paid or incurred by the Lord and recoverable from the tenant in respect of this extinguishment have been included in the compensation money aforesaid.
As Witness the hands of the parties hereto the day and year first before written.
The First Schedule referred to:
All that piece of land situate and lying in Deopham in Norfolk, being the third allotment by the Award of the Commissioners acting under the Deopham Enclosure Act made to Thomas Kett and Thomas Back as surviving Trustees under the Will of John Bousell deceased and marked No 64 on the map annexed to the Award of the said Commissioners containing four acres and three roods bounded by the Second Allotment made to the said Thomas Kett and Thomas Back, North, by the Fourth allotment East, by the Wymondham Road or Palloway South, and by land allotted to John Lord Wodehouse and by the said Award given in exchange to Bevil Amyas on West, and which said piece of land is now in the occupation of John Morter;
And also all that piece or parcel of land commonly called “The Hern” situate and being in Morley ….
Endorsement dated May 18th 1931 by J G Peele:
1. The within named Lord of the above Manor hereby acknowledges that all rents, fines, reliefs, heriots and fees payable in respect of the land referred to in the within agreement have been duly discharged;
2. The said Lord hereby acknowledges the receipt of the Compensation money by the within written agreement agreed to be paid and all interest (if any) due thereon.
