Enfranchisement
The Court Roll includes the following:
That by an Indenture dated April 30th 1909 and made between
1) The Right Honourable Bertram Francis, Baron Cranworth, of Letton Hall in the County of Norfolk of the first part;
2) Edward Temple Gurdon of 28, Lincoln Inn Fields in the County of London, Solicitor and Frederick Granville Sinclair of Barrogill Castle, Caithness, N.B., Esquire, of the second part, and
3) Leonard George Bolingbroke of the City of Norwich, Gentleman, of the third part.
for the consideration therein mention, the said Bertram Francis, Baron Cranworth, as beneficial Owner granted, enfranchised and conveyed unto the said Leonard George Bolingbroke All that piece of land containing 1 acre 1 rood 35 perches, Copyhold of the Manor of Shadwells otherwise Cockerells in Morley to which the said Leonard George Bolingbroke was admitted November 7th 1894, together with all mines, minerals and rights of timber thereto belonging, and all rights reserved by the Copyhold Act of 1894 Section 23 to hold the said piece of land thereby enfranchised with the appurtenances as freehold thenceforth freed and discharged for ever thereafter from all quit rents and other rents, fines, suits and services and all other incidents whatsoever of copyhold or customary tenure which by the custom of the said Manor were or had been done, paid or performed in respect of the said hereditaments and premises unto and to the ise of the said Leonard George Bolingbroke in fee simple freed and discharged from all limitations and trusts of the thereinbefore recited Will of the said Robert Thornhagh, Baron Cranworth and from all estates, interest and charges subsisting or to arise thereunder, but so as not to affect such right of escheat as was reserved by the Copyhold Act of 1894 Section 21
