The following extract from the will of Edward Payne dated November 2nd 1680 has been included in the Court Roll in English:
In the name of God, Amen.
I Edward Payne of Hingham in the County of Norfolk, yeoman:
Item: I give & bequeath unto Edward Payne my grandchild all those four inclosures of lands and pastures which I purchased of one Leonard Newman being & being in Deopham aforesaid,
To have and to hold the said premisses and every of their appurtenances unto him the said Edward Payne during the time of his naturall life & after the decease of him the said Edward Payne then to the issue of his body lawfully begotten & then liveing, and for want of some issue to be then liveing, I give and bequeath all the said premisses with their appurtenances unto Stephen and Joseph Payne my grandchildren & to their heires forever, equally to be devided betwixt them.
