| George Custance Leak Knight of Wymondham, Gentleman – enrollment of Disentailing Deed | Edward Boyce Pomeroy |
Details of Disentailing Deed
The deed is dated July 6th 1861, and was made between
- George Custance Leak Knight, the first born son of George Browne Leak Knight of Framingham Earl, Esquire;
- George Browne Leak Knight
- William Robert Clarke of Wymondham, Gentleman
This Deed refers back to an earlier Disentailing Deed dated December 17th 1847 between the same three parties which had been entered into the Court Rolls of the various Manors in which Copyhold hereditaments were held. However, because this enrollment had not taken place within six months of the date of the Indenture, it was regarded by the Master of the Rolls as invalid. This Deed therefore repeats the process, with enrollment taking place more rapidly.
The same Deed was used for all the Manors; the full text is available here when it was enrolled for the Manor of Deopham Hall.
