  2. 1767 spellings have been retained for premisses, accrew etc.
  3. Words in bold correspond to those so written in the original indenture.
  4. Please see the 1742 lease for notes on the meanings of some of the terms used.

The Lease

Key Points of the Lease

  1. The terms of this lease are essentially the same as those agreed with Ann Amyas in the 1764 lease. A few minor formatting changes have been made from the previous lease.
  2. The date of the surrendered lease corresponds to that of the 1764 Indenture.
  3. The start date for this lease is back-dated to the “Feast of Saint Luke the Evangelist which was in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty five”.
  4. This lease is for a period of 21 years; only 4 years of the preceding 17 year lease had run their course.
  5. Although the lease throughout refers to Ann Amyas, she has signed it Anne Amyas.
