Biography

The following is an extract from Alumni cantabrigienses which contains a biographical list of all known students, graduates and holders of office at the University of Cambridge:-

Francis Amyas was 17 when admitted to Peterhouse: this would imply a date of birth circa 1659. He was born in Carleton Forehoe.¹ He was ordained as a deacon in 1682 but it is not recorded where he spent the following two years. He was ordained priest May 25^th 1684² and appointed as rector of Litcham (a small village north-east of Swaffham) the following day. He held this post for 4 years; this was his sole priestly appointment.
He would have been 29 at the time of his death in 1688.

Land Holding in Deopham

He first came into ownership of 6 acres of copyhold land of the Manor of Shadwells otherwise Cockerells of Morley at their Court held on June 24^th 1686.
