Biography

The following is an extract from Alumni cantabrigienses which contains a biographical list of all known students, graduates and holders of office at the University of Cambridge:-

Francis Amyas was 17 when admitted to Peterhouse: this would imply a date of birth circa 1659. He was born in Carleton Forehoe.1 He was ordained as a deacon in 1682 but it is not recorded where he spent the following two years. He was ordained priest May 25th 16842 and appointed as rector of Litcham (a small village north-east of Swaffham) the following day. He held this post for 4 years; this was his sole priestly appointment.
He would have been 29 at the time of his death in 1688.

Land Holding in Deopham

He first came into ownership of 6 acres of copyhold land of the Manor of Shadwells otherwise Cockerells of Morley at their Court held on June 24th 1686.
