1815 Survey of Deopham

At the time of the 1815 Survey, the occupants of the cottage now known as Keeper’s Cottage (William Duffield & the Widow Miller) were not farming any other land; however, the cottage was owned by John Dobbs who owned and farmed land on both sides of Pye Land around the cottage.

1843 Tithe Apportionment

The 1843 tithe apportionment lists all the pieces that appear in the 1880 auction particulars; they are shown as owned by William Durrant and occupied by James Shickle senior. The farmhouse (piece 214) is the cottage now known as Keeper’s Cottage (see plan below).

Sale Particulars

In 1880 there was an auction of property belonging to Miss Charlotte Augusta Durrant (note that the farm was owned by William Durrant in 1843); this included both land in Deopham and land in Garvestone.
