Heading

TitleThe Manor of Deopham of the Dean and Chapter of Canterbury:
A Special Court Baron
DateFebruary 15th 1832
StewardEdward Palmer Clarke, Deputy Steward of
Philip Millard, Gentleman, Chief Steward
Location
Page numbers in Court Roll196-205

Note

This was the first Court at which it was recorded that “The Ladies” had replaced “The Lord” of the Manor:-

The Ladies of the Manor would have been Anne Elizabeth Amyas and Frances Amyas; their first lease of the Manor of Deopham of the Dean & Chapter of Canterbury is dated December 9th 1814. There are therefore eleven Courts after the sisters had taken over the Manor whilst there continued to be references to “The Lord of the Manor”. Presumably the Rev. Bence Bence had continued to run things during this period.
