Will of John Fidd
The following extract from the will of John Fidd dated February 26th 1725 has been copied into the Court record (in English):
Know All Men
by these presents that I John Fidd of Wells in the County of Norfolk, Merchant, have made, Nominated, constituted and appointed and by these presents Doe make, Nominate, Constitute and Appoint John Edmonds of Wells in the said County of Norfolk, Gent, and Matthew Thurton of Wells, Gent, my two and lawfull Attorneys Jointly and Severally for me and in my Name, Stead and Place at the next General Court or Courts or any other Court or Courts to be holden for the Manor of Deopham Decani et Capituli Cantur2 in the said County of Norfolk To be admitted to all and every the Messuages, Lands, Tenements, Hereditaments and Premises whatsoever holden by Copy of Court Roll of the said Manor which descended to me as Heir at Law for Mary Fidd and Immediately after such Admission to Surrender the Same into the hands of the Lord of the said Manor according to the Custome of the Same Manor
To the use and behoofe of the Last Will and Testament of the said John Fidd declared or to be declared;
And further, giving and Granting by these Presents that they or either or any of them my said Attorneys or Attorney Shall and may doe any other Lawfull and reasonable Act and Acts whatsoever concerning the Premises for the better effecting thereof as fully and amply to all intents and purposes as I my Self in my own Proper person might doe were I personally present ratifying and by these presents allowing and confirming all and every such Act and Acts as my said Attorneys or Attorney Shall doe or cause to be done by vertue hereof;
In Witness whereof I the said John Fidd have hereunto sett my hand and Seal this Six & twentieth day of February in the twelfth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord, King George Over Great Britain, France, Ireland etc, and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred & twenty five.
