Extracts from the will of Edward Paine
The following extracts, in English, from the will of Edward Paine dated November 2nd 1680 have been included in the Court Roll:
Extract 1
To have & to hold the said premisses with their & every their appurtenances unto the said Stephen Paine my Grandchild, his Assignes dureing the terme of his naturall life & after the decease of the said Stephen Paine, Then to the issue of his body lawfully begotten & for want of such issue then living, Then to Joseph Paine & Edward Paine my Grandchildren & to their heires & Assignes forever.

And alsoe all that Messuage or Tenement scituate lyeing & being in Deopham aforesaid which I purchased of one Thomas Wright with all the Lands thereunto belonging conteyning by Estimation Seaven acres being in two pieces in Deopham aforesaid
And alsoe one piece of Land conteyning by Estimation two acres & one rood lyeing & being in Deopham aforesaid which I purchased of one George Brooke;
And alsoe one piece of land conteyning by Estimation one acre & lyeth in Deopham field aforesaid which I purchased of Phillip Cory;
And alsoe one piece of Pasture lyeing in Deopham aforesaid conteyning by Estimation one acre & two roods which I purchased of John Waters;
And alsoe all those two inclosures of Land & pasture lyeing & being in Deopham aforesaid which I purchased of one Nathaniell Bullard,
To have & to hold all & every of the said premisses with their & every of their appurtenances unto him the said Joseph & his Assigns dureing the terme of his naturall life & after the decease of him the said Joseph,
Then to the issue of his body lawfully begotten & for want of such issue then living, Then I give & bequeath the said premisses unto Stephen Paine my Grandchild aforesaid & Edward Paine his Brother & to their heires forever equally to be divided betwixt them.

And alsoe one other inclose of Land lyeing in Deepeham aforesaid Conteyneing by Estimation foure acres & three Roodes, Four acres & one rood thereof I purchased of one George Brooke & the other Two Roodes I purchased of Thomas Smith,
And alsoe Akk theos Foure Inclosures of land & pasture which I purchased of one Leonard Newman lyeing & being in Deepeham,
To have & to hold the said premisses & every of their appurtenances unto him the said Edward Paine during the terme of his naturall life & after the decease of him the said Edward Paine,
Then to the issue of his body lawfully begotten & then liveing,
And for want of such issue to be then liveing, I give & bequeath all the said premises with their appurtenances unto the aforesaid Stephen Paine & Joseph Paine my Grandchildren & to their heires forever equally to be divided betwixt them.
