Extract from the will of Thomas Kett
The following extract from the will of Thomas Kett dated January 16th 1680 has been copied into the Court record in English:-
And I give and bequeath unto my said grandchildren Mary & Elizabeth Kett, & to their heires, all my messuages, lands & tenements in Wicklewood, Crownthorp & Wymondham aforesaid with their & every of their appurtenances after the death of their said mother & the payment of my debts & performance of this my will.
Comments
This is a very short record, with no salaried appointments nor the appointment of a Constable. Unlike the Courts before (1681) and after (1684), it appears to have been written in haste, not by a calligrapher.
It is dated October 17th anno domini 1682, which leaves a gap in 1683 when no Court has been recorded.
Footnotes
- This Court is also described as taking place in the 34th year of the reign of King Charles II, i.e. 1682. ↩︎
