1813 Auction
Prior to the auction of John Bousell’s estate by his executors, this must have been one of the largest farms in the village with 186 acres of land extending from Park Lane through to the Wymondham road.
The following advertisement appeared in the Norfolk Chronicle dated August 7th, 1813, listing Francis Read as the tenant:

These particulars contain eight “Conditions of Sale”. Most are standard, apart from the sixth:
The estate being charged with the payment of an annuity of £125 during the life of a Lady aged nearly sixty years, part of the purchase money shall be laid out in the purchase of stock, at the option of the vendors, of which the dividends shall be equal in amount to the annuity, in the names of four Trustees, two to be named by the vendors & two by the purchaser, upon trust to pay the annuity, & to indemnify the estate against it, & after the death of the annuitant to transfer the Stock to the vendors the Deed declaring the Trust of the Stock to be prepared at their expense.

The total shown above of 186 acres, 2 rods and 24 perches agrees exactly with the auction particulars of 1813.
