Paraphrase of the will of Robert Knights
The following paraphrase dated August 22nd 1824 appears in the Court Roll:
… the said Testator after devising a certain Messuage and Premises unto Elizabeth his Wife for life,
Did authorize, empower, direct and appoint his Executors Garrett Oddin Taylor and the said Testator’s Son Robert Knights, or the survivor of them, with all convenient speed after his decease to sell and dispose of All other his Messuages, Lands, Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever (including as part thereof the before described Hereditaments and Premises held of this Manor by Copy of Court Roll) to any person or persons for the best price or prices that could be gotten for the same.
Indenture of sale
The following paraphrase of an indenture dated February 2nd 1830 appears in the Court Roll:
The Indentures was made between:
1. Garrett Oddin Taylor and Robert Knights (the Executors);
2. Robert Knights (the only Son and Heir, according to the custom of this Manor, of the said Robert Knights, deceased);
3. John Baker;
4. Richard Kemp
Whereby it appears that the said Garrett Oddin Taylor and Robert Knights party thereto in pursuance, exercise and execution of the power and authority to them given in and by the said Will of the said Robert Knights deceased,
Did sell and absolutely dispose of, bargain and sell unto the said John Baker, his Heirs and Assigns,
The said hereinbefore described Premises,
To hold the same unto and to the use of the said John Baker and his Heirs.
Defaulters
Those who had defaulted were amerced 3d each.
